Rize-Artvin Airport (RZV) serves Turkey's eastern Black Sea coast — Rize, the heart of the country's tea country, and Artvin, the gateway to the green highlands. Built on a reclaimed site right on the sea, it is about 35 km from Rize city centre. The Havaş coach is the main link: it runs west to Rize for 220 TRY in around 45 minutes, and east along the coast to Ardeşen and Fındıklı (190–220 TRY), Arhavi, Hopa (300 TRY) and on to Artvin (550 TRY), with flat fares by destination timed to flights. A taxi into Rize is about 1,700 TRY; longer coastal runs such as Hopa are around 2,700 TRY and Artvin about 5,350 TRY. The open car park follows the 2026 DHMİ Group B tariff at 180 TRY per day. RZV is also the closest airport to the highland (yayla) destinations the region is famous for — Ayder, the Fırtına Valley, Zilkale and the Pokut and Gito plateaus.
Rize-Artvin Airport Transport Guide
Rize-Artvin Airport is built on land reclaimed from the sea on the Black Sea coast — Turkey's second airport built over the sea. It is the gateway to Rize city centre, Ardeşen, Çayeli and Fındıklı in the Eastern Black Sea, as well as to Artvin. To reach these places from the terminal you can use the Havaş shuttle, a taxi or a rental car. Below is the price, journey time and best use case for each.
Havaş Shuttle
Havaş runs from outside the terminal to Rize centre for 220 TRY (45 min), Ardeşen 190 TRY (20 min), Çayeli 190 TRY (20 min), Fındıklı 220 TRY (30 min) and Derepazarı 280 TRY (50 min). Child tickets are half price. Buses leave according to flight arrivals, no booking needed; buy tickets onboard or at the desk. For current times see the Rize-Artvin shuttle page.
Taxi
Taxis wait outside the terminal around the clock. The meter starts at 135 TRY, with a 180 TRY minimum fare and 45 TRY per kilometre. Approximate fares on common routes: Ardeşen 750 TRY (14 km), Çayeli 850 TRY (16 km), Gündoğdu 1,350 TRY (27 km), Fındıklı 1,450 TRY (30 km), RTEÜ Medical Faculty 1,550 TRY (31 km). For heavy luggage or late-night arrivals, a taxi to the door is the most practical choice.
Parking
Rize-Artvin Airport, built over the sea, has an open car park next to the terminal, with separate areas for short-term pick-up and drop-off and for long-stay parking. For current rates and parking conditions see the Rize-Artvin parking page.
Distances
Approximate road distances from Rize-Artvin Airport to the main points (they vary with traffic and season):
| Destination | Distance |
|---|---|
| Pazar | nearby |
| Ardeşen | 14 km |
| Çayeli | 16 km |
| Rize centre | 25 km |
| Fındıklı | 30 km |
Terminal
Rize-Artvin Airport has a single terminal building serving both domestic and international flights. As a recently opened airport the terminal is modern, with food and drink areas, ATMs, car rental offices and an information desk. Because the runway is built on land reclaimed from the sea, the coastal views on landing and take-off are striking.
