Malatya Erhaç Airport (MLX) serves Malatya, the apricot capital of Turkey and the base for the UNESCO-listed Aslantepe Mound — one of the world's earliest urban and state centres — and the historic old town of Battalgazi. The airport is about 28 km west of the city centre. According to DHMİ, the airport passenger shuttle is run by MEYDAN: a 250 TRY service arranged for arriving flights that waits until the last passenger has their luggage, with times updated daily (see malatyahavalimani.com). A taxi is possible but pricier over 28 km (around 1,740 TRY on the 2026 meter of 60 TRY opening + 60 TRY per km). The open car park is on the 2026 DHMİ Group B tariff at 180 TRY per day, with the first 15 minutes free. Malatya is also a common starting point for trips to Mount Nemrut.
Malatya Erhaç Airport Transport Guide
Malatya Erhaç Airport is about 28 km from central Malatya. The cheapest way into town is the MEYDAN airport passenger shuttle; taxis and rent-a-car are also at the terminal. For sights such as the UNESCO-listed Aslantepe Mound and Battalgazi, a taxi or hire car is used. Below is the cost, duration and best use of each option.
Airport Shuttle (MEYDAN)
Per DHMİ, the airport passenger shuttle is run by MEYDAN. The fare is 250 TRY per person. There is no fixed timetable — times are updated daily and a service into central Malatya is arranged for every arriving flight; it waits until the last passenger has collected their luggage, so even a delayed flight rarely means a missed shuttle. City-to-airport departures are also timed to flights. For current times, routes and reservations see the Malatya shuttle page and malatyahavalimani.com; contact +90 422 325 60 60.
Taxi
Taxis wait at the terminal (MEYDAN line: +90 422 325 60 60). The 2026 Malatya meter is a 60 TRY opening fee, 60 TRY per km (6 TRY per 100 m), a 200 TRY minimum and 150 TRY hourly waiting. Approximate route fares:
| Destination | Distance | Estimated fare |
|---|---|---|
| Malatya city centre | 28 km | 1,740 TRY |
| Battalgazi (old Malatya) | 33 km | 2,040 TRY |
| Aslantepe Mound (UNESCO) | 35 km | 2,160 TRY |
Fares are estimates; confirm in advance for longer runs. For one or two people the 250 TRY MEYDAN shuttle is much cheaper.
Parking
The airport open car park (DHMİ) is on the 2026 Group B tariff: 180 TRY per day for a car, 90 TRY for a motorcycle, with the first 15 minutes free. As the airport is 28 km out, the shuttle is usually cheaper than parking for multi-day trips. See the Malatya parking page for details.
